"The Connection" is a project that I've put off for years. Somewhere along the way my focus moved to the songwriter/producer aspect of what I do and the 'singer/songwriter performing his own songs in his own fashion' got elbowed to the back of the line. But all along, there was a group of friends, in and out of the music business, who continued to pester me to commit my versions of my songs to CD (actually when they first started, I think it was vinyl.) I thank them.

The most difficult part of starting this project was deciding what songs to include (decades of writing makes for a big pile). The project finally got started when I realized that I didn't have to decide...Maia did. Maia Sharp (phenomenal writer and artist...oh yeah, and my daughter) was producing it with me, so I made her do it. [I include that bit of information so that my many co-writers that don't see their songs on the project will have someone else to blame].

Maia and I produced "The Connection" at Kaweah Recording studio. Jack Wesley Routh was a producer as well on the songs he and I wrote. We had a few musician friends come in and help us on the tracks that the three of us couldn't pull off, but mostly what you'll hear on this record is a years worth of experimenting with the assortment of traditional and odd instruments that clutter the studio.
The prominent voices are me, Maia, Sharon Bays, Jack, Louie Ortega and on "Some Walls" my friends and co-writers, Pam Rose and Mary Anne Kennedy.

I'm pleased with the outcome. I hope you will be too.
